Dempsey and Donovan are two popular choices. I also like Kljestan myself.

Dempsey, Bradley, or Donovan. If I had to choose one, I’d say Dempsey.
Donovan is one of the most popular, but he will more than likely be too old for the next World Cup. Still a great player though.
Dempsey will also be border line with age for the next World Cup, but he is, arguably, going to be the most influential for Team USA in the 2010 World Cup. Plus, his world wide recognition is growing. He was recently the first American player to play in a European Final (Playing for Fulham)
Bradley is the youngest of the three. As long as he keeps playing like he has, he’ll definitely see AT LEAST One more World Cup…but he has the potential to be a starter in 2 more. Especially, if his father does well enough as coach to maintain the position.
