what does the usa national soccer team have to do to improve?

I thought they had a good soccer team at the world cup but i think we need one more good striker. Altidore I felt was the only one good. i dont think buddle, finley, or gomez are good enough for the national side. I think maybe a Kenny Cooper or Justin Braun could do better. so what are your thoughts on usa to improve their team?

They need to build their defense, and they need someone at mid that can control and distribute (Donovan is a mid, but he’s really a scorer, more than a distributor). I agree with you about Altidore being our best natural striker. I think Gomez is good enough. Buddle and Findley definitely have some improving to do.

I think the soccer in USA is improving but americans still don’t like soccer as the other countries so there are less good players. Here in Brazil we don’t like basketball so we don’t have many good players too.
But I believe that very soon USA will have a good team because it’s a strong country in every competition.

They need to build a stronger defense. Look what happened in these games
vs England- Gerrard scores within 3 minutes
vs Slovenia- Birsa Scores within 12 minutes
vs Ghana- Boateng scores within 5 minutes.
They almost conceded an early goal vs Algeria
So their defense is their main problem. They have some good mids and excellent attack.
